| I almost forgot to post this. Last week when I was setting up those icons I wasn't sure if you type Nibblesfly with one or two S's so I googled "nibblesfly ps3" and one of first results led me to forum.bodybuilding.com and this post: So I opened up that link the 33yr old Bigman was advertising and I stumble upon this... http://www.freewebs.com/nibblesfly/archives.htmThe lost roundtables. I feel like I'm watching Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost MovieSo here they are - Block Party- Special Edition:
Reaction to Sunday night:
Gamersfuel: Well, I was out of town visiting Opelika,AL so I missed most of the action however when I started getting in some scores I was shocked. First of all, Florida losing changes everything and with a big win Missouri all of a sudden has become a giant in this league. Texas Tech down at halftime to Nebraska was also very shocking. Their RB, Woods seemed to bring them back. He's having a great year. He ran well vs Nebraska and made "12" catches for the Red Raiders.
Nibblesfly: I've been apart of a lot of leagues but last night might have been the most exciting night of any season I've been apart of. I'm still shocked Florida lost, even 24 hours after. It leaves a lot of doubt in my mind about where their headed as a team. With the way the NLB playoff system works it's very possible that Tim Tebow could be left out of the national title race. I can't believe that. Then how about Ohio State beating LSU right before? OSU gets very little credit but they are cleary for real. Missouri is also for real. I wasn't a believer until last night.
Who will be the new #1?
Nibblesfly: It would take something extroardinary for USC to lose a game this block so you figure they are locked in at 6-0. Ohio State had a huge win over LSU and are currently 5-0. Obviously Florida drops off the 1-2 line into the third slot. I voted USC #1 last week and will vote them #1 again next time. Ohio State is closing the gap quickly. Missouri is still behind those two teams in my eyes.
Gamersfuel: Well we still have lots of games to be played but I think OSU has the top spot all but locked up with a win in his next game. If he falters, USC and Missouri will be there but they both have to take care of business. The odds are with OSU at this point.
Any chance Florida doesn't win their division and misses playoffs?
Gamersfuel: Yes, very much so. Right now all LSU has to do is win out and they win that division. The last 4 games for them they will be the favorite in all of them.
Nibblesfly: I'm stunned that we're having to discuss this but I think it's a fair question. LSU has a favorable schedule coming in and Florida still has OSU left. If LSU can win out (decent chance) and Florida loses to OSU(decent chance) and gets upset somewhere else they're out. That's not impossible by any means. Florida hosts Alabama in the final block in a game that will be streamed online. I'm not sure JustinTv can handle the exposure that game could possibly get if this shakes out like I think it might. [/quote] - Block Party 2:
What stood out to you during Block 2?
Nibblesfly: The first NLB game ever to be streamed live online for all to see was the first thing that stood out. Florida and USC taking care of business in route to their 4-0 starts was also noteworthy. It seems as if both teams have yet to get a true test. Something that is standing out in a negative way is the “western yellow” division lagging behind the rest of the divisions for getting games played. No team in that division has 4 games completed yet and two teams only have 1 game in. That’s unacceptable but I’m hopeful they will turn it around.
Gamersfuel: A couple things stood out... One was how LSU bounced back from a loss in block one to Florida to win 2 games in which their defense gave up a total of 19 pts. Secondly, I'd have to say what stood out was the lack of games played by coach Heartman. Let’s hope all is well on his end. I'm sure he'll be caught up in no time
Impressions of first NLB game ever televised?
Nibblesfly: I was competing in it and it was a lot of fun. Having a handful of guys chatting during the game was pretty good and made the whole thing seem so realistic. I would love for this to be a new trend and have more of these games available for the public to see.
Gamersfuel: I must say that it went well. Whoever was in charge of audio should be fire no questions asked. That would have added a better feel for it. But all in all it was a groundbreaking moment. Possibly the first ever live broadcast of an NCAA league game.
Thoughts on current NLB playoff system.
Nibblesfly: I don’t particularly like it because unless you win your division you can’t play for the national title. There’s going to be teams like LSU and Notre Dame who are capable of winning it all who won’t get a chance because they will have finish 2nd in their division. It’s a shame more teams like that don’t get a chance. I wish it was the 4 division winners and 4 more at-large teams who get an invite into the tournament.
Gamersfuel: I think it could use some tweaking. The way it looks right now only division winners will make the playoffs. This penalizes teams who are playing their best football towards seasons end. The best team in a particular division could miss out. I think a better setup would be to do something similar to how the NBA does it or something like put the division winners in and then have 4 more teams. Have 2 wildcard teams with the next best records. Put them in and that’s 4 more giving you basically the top 8 teams. The best team is no doubt within this group.
Fact or Fiction: Someone will go undefeated during the regular season.
Nibblesfly: I think multiple teams will go undefeated so this is definitely a fact. If you look at USC’s schedule it’s difficult to find a loss. When I look at Florida’s schedule I see a tough game at LSU but with a healthy Tim Tebow that should be a win. A game to watch is week 10 when Ohio State travels to Gainesville to take on Florida. Both teams could very well be 9-0 going into it.
Gamesrfuel: That’s a fact. The obvious choices are Florida, USC, and OSU but especially Florida. They are so much more overmatched that it's not even funny. Florida going undefeated in the regular season? So easy a caveman can do it.
Fact or Fiction: All 16 coaches that started the season will be here through the end of the season.
Nibblesfly: I’m more of a glass half empty type guy so I’ll say fiction. It’s too difficult to have a season with no coaching turnover. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a league where atleast 1-2 coaches weren’t replaced during a season.
Gamersfuel: Fiction...Something always comes up. That’s how life is, things happen unexpectedly. I'd expect to see at least 1-2 coaches give it up before seasons end.
Fact or Fiction: People still care about the NLB online dynasty.
Nibblesfly: This is a fact. I think people are tired of waiting for the patch but interest is still there for the dynasty. Most of us play NCAA on a regular basis so it’s not like we don’t have time to squeeze in another game or two a week for the dynasty. I welcome the start of it.
Gamersfuel: Fact...Most are really enjoying the regular season so it's no big deal to wait. Most people have forgotten about the dynasty but once it gets started with the recruiting, advances to spring training, etc everyone will be interested. But I seriously doubt the dynasty ever happens.
:kenny: Conclusion: You use only one S to write Nibblesfly. |

| NCAA was the only game I played online from about 2006-2009. I went from College Hoops 2k to that. Joined a really good league for about 2 years and then we transitioned to online dynasty that was good for 1 year before it died. Similar vibe to the glory days of NBAForPS3 except we had a few more dedicated users and less drama since NCAA football is more of an older crowd but definitely some drama. But like all good things, it came to an end.
NLBNews brings back memories. This was towards the end of everything. After a few months I found Sukan and the rest is history.
Epic indeed. |
