Welcome friends to the newest edition of the Weekly Roundtable. I'm your beloved host, Bryan and I'm pleased to be joined by Ante and Bounce today as we break down some important topics in the ISBA world.
In addition to the roundtable I will post a short trailer for the 2nd episode of The Association: ISBA that is coming soon so look for that at the bottom of the page following the topics. We have five topics on the agenda today so let's get to them.
Bounce, Bryan, and Ante having a few laughs after the roundtable festivities 1. Overall thoughts on Hatr and the aftermath of his firingAnte: What aftermath? I wasn't home all day so I haven't seen the aftermath. But I approved his firing.
Bryan: Thank you for being so informed with this OA. I realize you mentally checked out last week but get it together. As for the firing, it was only a matter of time. He got all butthurt when Bounce gave him the public warning a few days ago and then he refused to conform to league rules. And like a class act, he decided to go on a childish rant on his way out the door. Now, the rant was quality stuff but completely uncalled for. Then he mentions how he'd sweep Miami in the playoffs? Irrational thinking IMO
Bounce: His firing was completely deserved. Last week he was issued an warning regarding his playstyle, and all he had to do was to tweak his offense and he would be a great member just like he was before the warning. He probably took that warning too much to heart and at the same time ignored it. And he got what he deserved. The aftermath gave us some good laughs and cemented Hatr's place in the Hall of Fame. I wish I had a spot in it. I eNVy Hatr to some degree.
2. The Lakers are 7th in the West and Nash announced he's retiring after the season. Time for panic in LA?Bryan: I hate to say this but yes, I'm a little concerned about the Lakers. 7th in the west while using an all-star caliber starting five is troubling. I realize Paul hasn't padded his overall record with many CPU games but still, he's got quite a few losses in human games. Then he trades Artest for Mike Miller? Such a bizarre move. Paul better wake up fast because the playoffs will be here before you know it.
Bounce: In past, Lakers never had a capable point guard and Paul was just fine with bums taking the spot on the court and wait for the kick-out pass. And on top of that they have 2 of the best point guards in the league on their roster anyways. Losing one of them would probably mean a chemistry boost for LA. Paul will be just fine.
Ante: No. Simply because: a) Paul is a vet, he turns it up in the playoffs
b) He was a champion as a 7th seed in ISBA1 in 2K12
c) Please read above and I think you got my point
(Go Green)3. Who is your rookie of the year: Terrence Ross, Toronto (19 PPG, 4 Reb) or Royce White ( 11.5 PPG, 9.3 Asts, 5.5 Rebs)Bounce: How about co-ROY winners? Both have almost identical stats (in terms of points scored and assists translated into points, they average the same, other numbers are also close). Both teams are equally successful. The best way would be to have them share the Rookie Of The Year award. Since this is 2K, the winner will be whoever has more All Star votes. I'm fine with either one.
Ante: t's a toss up. I would give it to Royce simply because he played more human teams, yes he is a stat padder, but hey he gets the job done. Terrence Ross is a great potential. In season 2 he's an all star for sure. If the Raptors get that homecourt advantage, which they could if they beat human coaches now, Terrence Ross should be ROY.
Bryan: My heart says Royce but my head says Terrence Ross. The Raptors haven't been the greatest team all season but for a rookie to average 19 and 4 is pretty damn impressive. Both teams are relatively similar in terms of record and seeding in their respective conference. I could see Ross being Rookie of the Year and Royce White being 2nd or 3rd team NBA.
4. Fact or Fiction: Leroy will be ready to go for the start of year 2Bounce: Fiction. He won't be ready. At this point he's making the same Jeebs cameo only twice a week rambling about reboot and other crap. I'm putting my '14 1st rd pick that he won't be here for opening day of 2013/14 season. Anyone willing to bet?
Bryan: His ass better be ready for season 2. I'm giving Leroy the benefit of the doubt. #Fact
Ante: 50/50. If some new fancy kicks come to a nearby store in Cali we may not see coach #swag in 2K13.
5. Fact or Fiction: Not having reels upload takes away from the OA experienceBryan: This is fact. It's not a huge deal but it takes away from the atmosphere. The reels make it seem more personal and real. The screenshots are nice but that doesn't do us much good. Everyone else in society gets technologically more advanced as the years go, 2k goes in the opposite direction. But hey, we have a sweet soundtrack so it's all good.
Ante: Fact. Need I say more? Fuck 2K (Hi Dexy, Daisy, Dee Dee, Valentine), nothing to add. It just sucks. But I love the OA how is wotking this year except the reels, I hope it will get fixed as the year goes, but I doubt it.
Bounce: Fiction. Reels never used to work anyways. On 2K12 you had to try five times to upload one reel. At least now we are "saved" from wasting time on that and getting frustrated.
