He also knows that his coach is a retard that would play him 45 minutes from the get-go, and that's not the right move for someone who comes off a 12 month recovery period.

He's not a random player like Shumpert who is the 4th or 5th most important player on court every time he plays. Rose is expected to carry the whole team on his back, and if he's not 100% why risk his career just so his team goes over Indiana in first round and then losses?
