Phoenix 57 @ Brooklyn 79
Nets win season opener

Brook Lopez: 20 pts, 7 rebs, 3 asts
Deron Williams: 18 pts, 9 asts

Brooklyn had 5 players with 9 pts or more. Jerry Stackhouse impressed off the bench with 3 pts and 4 rebs in limited time. The game was tied at 21 after the first quarter but the Nets dialed up the defense and held Phoenix to under 13 pts in each of the final 3 frames. Michael Beasley led the Suns with 19 pts.

Coach Bryan postgame comments, sponsored by Keystone light: Always Smooth

Good season opener for the most part. The Suns tested us early and we responded. I think that was good for us to get punched in the mouth a couple times and show we can punch back. Lopez had a great preseason and continued that strong play today. We need to get Joe (Johnson) and MarShon (Brooks) going better for the future but that will come. It felt good to get out there and play again.

Brooklyn is 1-0 on the season and will seek 2-0 later today/tonight.

Brooklyn No Match for Boston
Celtics hot shoot dooms Nets upset bid

One for the Road - Page 4 1346292777_6399_kris%20humphries
Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries look on late in the 4th quarter

Brooklyn's first road game of the season ends in disappointment as the Nets fell to the Celtics in the TDGarden by 15 points. The Celtics hot shooting was too much for Brooklyn and they simply couldn't keep up. Boston shot 58 percent in the first half and 61 percent in the 3rd to pull away. Jason Terry had a huge game for the Celtics and played much of the game at backup PG, a position he hasn't played since about 2003 in Atlanta. (#Butthurt trending worldwide at 5:23PM ET)

The Nets had a balanced scoring attack but got away from their game plan as the Boston shots continued to fall. This game will be a good learning experience for the Nets (1-1) as they progress through the schedule.

Coach Bryan postgame comments, sponsored by Keystone light: Always Smooth

This is one of the toughest games we'll play all season and it showed. We played against a coach who knows their roster very well and we don't have that familiarity yet. I don't think we played as bad as the final score would indicate. Sometimes the other team plays well and won't miss. There's not much that can be done about that. It's a long season and we have a long ways to go as a team. We're not even close to reaching our potential yet.

The Nets are 1-1 on the season and have plans to play the CPU Blazers later tonight and a human game with Houston is tentatively scheduled for Monday afternoon.

After my game with Boston I wasn't in the mood to play anyway. With this OA flex schedule I have to pace myself and not overdue it. Avoiding burn out ftw

Brooklyn Gets Back on Track Over Hopeless Blazers
Deron Williams recorded a trip dub in the victory

One for the Road - Page 4 DwilltripDubscreen
DWill played a masterful game in route to the trip dub

The Brooklyn Nets bounced back after a disappointing loss to the Celtics by beating the dreadful Portland Trailblazers on Sunday night. DWill recorded his first trip dub of the season and Lopez added 21 and 7 to pace the Nets. MarShon Brooks contributed 16 points off the bench, while the 100 million dollar man Joe Johnson mustered just 4 pts (2-7 FG's) and 7 rebs.

LaMarcus Aldridge (the one man band) led Portland with 16 pts.

Coach Bryan postgame comments, sponsored by Keystone Light: Always Smooth

Good bounce back win for us. We have to play 1 game at a time. It's a long season. You have ups and you have downs but if you keep believing in yourself and working hard good things will happen for this team. Deron was terrific obviously. He controlled the game from start to finish and showed why he's one of the best players we have in this league.

Brooklyn improves to 2-1 on the season.

Brooklyn Daily Update

One for the Road - Page 4 Deron-williams-joe-johnson
Deron Williams and Joe Johnson are starting to find their groove in Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets currently sit 7-1 on the season. Over the last 48 hrs they have defeated the Houston Rockets (Luka) and the Toronto Raptors (Sukan) to give them some credibility. In addition to the human victories they scored wins over Portland and the Clippers. The Clippers CPU was a #vintage2k12 style game but the resistant Nets survived the upset bid in Staples Center.

Coach Bryan on the last 48 hours of OA, sponsored by Keystone Light: Always Smooth

Any time you win games it's a positive thing. The CPU game with the Clippers was troubling but we survived. I was very pleased with the win over Houston as I have said many times that I believe Luka is a top 5 coach around here. We didn't necessarily deserve to win but we found a way and that's what good teams do. We got hot in Toronto and that's what propelled us. When we score 87 points in a human game without overtime we won't lose often. I don't think we're as good as our overall record indicates but we're improving.

:beans:

On Monday the Nets announced the signing of Andris Biedrins. The Nets signed the journey man center after he was recently a victim of the amnesty cut from Golden State after the recent signing of Greg Oden that shocked the ISBA world. "Beans" brings a wealth of experience and rebounding to the Nets. He was signed to a 1 year deal for 473k.

Coach Bryan on the signing

I've been a fan of Beans for a long time and when I saw he got cut I was surprised. We reached out to him the next day and came to terms on the contract. When you're in a salary cap situation like the Nets you need to get creative and this is a good example of that.

The next order of business for Brooklyn is playing OKC and Dallas since those human games are the closest on the calendar.

Brooklyn Agrees to Terms with Raja Bell

One for the Road - Page 4 Nba_raja_275
Raja Bell speaking to Jay-Z during dinner at Denny's

The Brooklyn Nets announced Tuesday night the signing of Raja Bell. He was recently waived by Utah. Bell, a veteran defensive specialist signed a 1 year deal for the league minimum. The signing indicates that the Nets have officially given up on signing Mickael Pietrus after not being able to come to terms with him the last few days.

Coach Bryan on the signing

Just like I talked about with the Beans signing...its about getting creative. Raja Bell is a great value pick up. He can play the 2 or 3 and even at his age is still an above average on ball defender. The chase for Pietrus is over. We can't wait around forever so we moved on to the next prospect. If MP decides he wants to join our team later on that's fine but he will have his work cut out breaking into our rotation. Playing time is earned, not given out in offices.

Brooklyn Daily News

As of 11:30PM ET on Wednesday the Brooklyn Nets currently stand at 9-3 overall for the season. The Nets stumbled on the road in the Bay Area with a narrow loss to the upstart Warriors. Steph Curry was unstoppable in the 4th and outperformed Deron Williams the entire game. DWill was held to season lows in points (8) and assists (5) in route to the loss. See a condensed version of the game below (In 480p SD where available) with highlights and important moments.

Coach Bryan post game comments, sponsored by Keystone Light: Always Smooth

This loss hit me hard. We played miserable in the first half but hung around and eventually took the lead on a few occasions in the 2nd half. We couldn't get enough stops on the defensive end to win. Pure and simple and until we step up on defense we won't beat the elite teams in ISBA. The sky is the limit for this team. I honestly believe we can beat anybody in the East in a 3 game series but we have a long ways to go.

Sometimes, Stephen Curry is unstoppable...

BTW

That shot timer is so annoying to me, I just turn it off, it's too big etc...I better shoot without it lol...

Brooklyn and Warriors are some of the best defenses in the league...Great ball movement at the end from #Craxiors...

I still haven't gone retro. I'm saving those for special occasions. I believe Sixers have plenty of retros, I'll pick one that looks good as the We Believe jersey. Maybe the gangsta Iverson jersey or the old-school half white-half red Phila ones.

Brooklyn Acquires Paul Millsap in Trade with Utah

One for the Road - Page 4 4118093b
The Nets receive one of the most underrated players in the NBA in Paul Millsap

This week when rumors surfaced out of Salt Lake City of the availability of Paul Millsap, Coach Bryan took the proactive approach by speaking to the Jazz coach about a possible deal. 2 days past and it appeared Millsap was headed to fellow eastern conference mate, Boston but at the 11th hour Brooklyn came in and got the deal finalized. The Nets sent Kris Humphries, Tyshawn Taylor, and a protected 1st round pick for Millsap and veteran PG Jamaal Tinsley. The deal is risky for the Nets as all indications are that Millsap will enter free agency this summer but that didn't deter coach Bryan from pursuing the deal anyway.

Coach Bryan on the trade

I'm trying to win games this year. Not next year, the year after, etc. With this trade we have the roster to make a deep run this year. Was it a risky deal in terms of the future? Not really. Humphries played well for us but Millsap is on another level. Taylor is a good prospect (68 ovr rookie, b- pot) but we have an elite PG signed long term. Plus the rest of our core players are signed through 2014-15 so the future is still intact regardless of what Millsap does. We hope to keep him in Brooklyn with the rest of our core and go for a title each of the next 3 seasons.

Millsap is expected to be the team's 6th man until further notice with Blatche replacing Humphries as the starting PF. In the two games since the trade Millsap has scored double figures in each contest.

Thank you. I know the media doesn't give us any credit but we know what we're capable of. The Raptors will be fine too in time. Don't be discouraged. Just keep grinding on the defensive end and good things will happen. I have the much better rated team and I was playing in Brooklyn. I still believe in the Raps.

Brooklyn Goes 2-0 vs Human Coaches Friday Night

One for the Road - Page 4 Bfdc91c2
Deron Williams hit two late threes to give Brooklyn the upset in South Beach

The Brooklyn Nets franchise took some positive steps Friday night scoring two victories over human coaches. In the first game the Nets hosted Sukan and the young Raptors. The Nets led from start to finish and shot the ball at a very high percentage during parts of the 2nd and 3rd quarter to give them a healthy lead through out. The starters got some much needed rest in the 4th and the Nets earned the victory.

In the night cap the Nets were waiting to play the OKC Thunder since they said they'd be online. Since that game never materialized the Nets instead decided to head down to South Beach and play the championship favorite Miami Heat. Once again the Nets shot the ball very well and built an 18 point lead at one point in the 3rd quarter. But like all champions Vince had a run in him and the lead was cut down to 4 inside two minutes left. Then the best PG in ISBA closed the Heat out with two three pointers down the stretch and the Brooklyn Nets stunned Vince and the Miami Heat 82-76. LeBron James led the Heat with 26 pts (on only 17 FGA) and Deron Williams led the Nets with 25 pts and 11 asts in 24 minutes of action.

Coach Bryan post game comments, sponsored by Keystone Light: Always Smooth

We're thrilled with the two victories as you can imagine. I was excited to play the Heat. I always get up for the "big boys" and it was truly a great atmosphere down in South Beach. As good as our offense was, I think defense won us that Miami game. We held the Heat to 9 pts in the 2nd quarter, which is unbelievable given their talent and their coach. Gerald Wallace had 2 pts and 7 rebs but that man battled his ass off against LeBron. What a great win for us. People have given us ZERO credit as a team but that's their problem. We know what we're capable of.

Brooklyn currently stands at 15-4 on the season with two of those losses coming from sims.

Brooklyn Nets Update

I apologize to the millions (and millions) of my fans for not updating this thread in a couple days. Wednesday was a big day for the Nets as they played two humans and 1 CPU game. For the day they went 2-1, with the one loss being in overtime to the 76ers in the #BoardwalkClassic held in Brooklyn. The Sixers game was back and forth with both teams giving everything on both ends of the floor. It was one of those games where both teams deserved to win but unfortunately there had to be a loser and that was Brooklyn. Below is a 7 minute condensed game with plenty of highlights from the festivities.

In the night cap the Nets took their team to Staples Center to tangle with arguably the most talented team and most decorated coach in ISBA history (Felix is #1 in my heart) coach Paul. After a slow start that saw Brooklyn trail by 8 after the first quarter a strong bench performance in the 2nd pulled the Nets even and eventually with a small lead at halftime. The game went back in forth, the Lakers starters would go on a small run, and then the Nets bench would out-play their bench. In the end the Brooklyn Nets pull another upset on the road and beat the struggling Lakers, 63-57. Joe Johnson led the Nets with 13 pts. Millsap added 10 pts and 6 rebs off the bench. Deron Williams struggled and managed just 7 pts and 8 asts on 2-11 shooting. Kobe and D12 combined for 36 pts and 10 rebs to lead the Lakers charge.

Coach Bryan post day thoughts, sponsored by Keystone Light: Always Smooth

Interesting day for us to be sure. We scored a blowout win over CPU Phoenix where we hit 100 points for the first time all season. That was pretty cool. The #BoardwalkClassic was a disappointing loss but the better team won. They made a great play in OT and sometimes you have to tip your cap and move on. The night cap in LA was pretty special. Any time you play a big time coach like Paul it's an honor but to beat someone of his caliber is orgasmic. It just goes to show what this team is capable of. We've won @ Miami and now @ LA. It was our 5th win in a row over Paul in OA games, which is shocking. Once the Lakers figure things out they will be unbelievably good. Luckily for us we caught them in transition. Paul is pure class and I wish him well.

Next on Brooklyn's radar is Indiana, Chicago, Golden State, and any random games.

Raja Bell Announces He'll Retire After the Season

One for the Road - Page 4 Rajaretiring

Long time NBA veteran Raja Bell announced he will retire following the season. The 36 year old defensive specialist has experienced a nice career but cites mental and physical fatigue as the reason for his retirement. Bell was waived by Utah early in the season and after being unsigned for nearly a week Bell considered retiring immediately but Brooklyn called him up and since joining the Nets he's been a rotation player logging 10-15 minutes per game.

Coach Bryan on Raja Bell

He's been a great guy to have around our team. Guys like MarShon Brooks can learn a lot from a veteran like Raja. Not only that but he's played great for us off the bench. He did a wonderful job on Kobe and LeBron this season in our two wins over them and he's shooting the three at a nice clip. We wish him well but for now we need him to give us one more run so we can chase that ring.

Nets Clinch Playoff Birth

One for the Road - Page 4 928cd30c
Buike is one of the good signings Nets management made this season

The Brooklyn Nets clinched a playoff birth after a narrow victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday afternoon. With 17 games remaining on the season the Nets are in the fortunate position of playing for seeding now rather than fighting to make the playoffs.

Coach Bryan on clinching the playoffs

Our number one goal is to make the playoffs every season so we're pleased. We're not looking at seeding until the last 5-7 games left on the schedule. We have 17 games left and still need to keep improving. I realize we're not as good as our overall record but we've done the best we could.
